What?
We organize smaller scale seasonal projects. These projects allow us to consistently support our community. In addition to this, we also will be hosting a spring fundraiser with the help of the students at Duchesne Academy. As a new organization we are focusing on building strong, sustainable partnerships within our local dance community and we hope to grow and improve as our organization develops.
Why?
To the outside world, dance is minimized as a simple 'hobby.' But anyone in the studio knows
that dance means 13+ hours a week of dedication, because however bruised, however sprained,
however bleeding, however aching, we keep going. Teachers still push our technique, but the
industry leaves us completely unequipped to handle the rest. We are given no practical
resources to navigate grueling schedules, identity blocks, or structural injuries. Dance
isn't a hobby. Dance means passion, dedication, pain, and love all at once. Dancers dance
because they need an escape, a passion, a safe place. A safe place that provides comfort and
joy yet shatters their heart every time someone assumes that dance doesn’t hurt. Every time
you are left with self-doubt, body anxiety, or an injury you don't know how to fix, you are
left holding missing pieces. The industry leaves us with so many questions—and no answers.
I built Project Balancē to be that answer. A home. A community that provides dancers a safe place.
We offer resources with the answers to your in-the-wings thoughts, direct emotional and physical
support, and, most importantly, partnerships with under-resourced local Texas dance communities.
